Mamma by Mina Holland

Mamma is a celebration of where all our food stores begin: at home. In this exploration, Guardian journalist and award-winning author Mina Holland considers food’s roles in our lives beyond sustenance, and how recipes provide histories of who we are.

Along the way she meets stalwarts of the food revolution including Jamie Oliver, Yotam Ottolenghi, Claudia Roden and more, to uncover how they have been shaped by their food heritage and what their culinary legacies might be. Interspersed throughout are the author’s go-to recipes to soothe and to share – perennial staples of childhood that are so much more than instructions for making a particular dish but also living stories. Mamma is a beautiful, timeless tribute to our culinary traditions and their continuing evolution.
